چکیده

Background Ocular cicatricial pemphigoid (OCP) is a chronic, immune-mediated, fibrosing disease that can lead to blindness. The diagnosis clinical and/or based on the results of conjunctival biopsy. There are no studies have studied histopathological findings and risk sequelae in this entity. Objectives describe biopsies from patients with OCP identify characteristics may be associated greater fibrosis sequelae. Methods A retrospective, multicentre study was carried out. Patients over 18 years age by pathology were selected. Medical records reviewed demographic, clinical, biopsy data collected. To assess whether histology or lesser (determined Foster’s stages), divided into two groups: early stages (0 1) versus 2, 3, 4. variables between groups compared. groups. determine immunofluorescence deposits time, Cox multivariate analysis performed. Sequelae defined as multicomponent variable consisting queratopia, xerophthalmia, entropion, trichiasis, cataracts, glaucoma, vitreous opacity, retinal scars, synechiae, Results Fifty-seven POC diagnosed included. mean presentation at 62.7 (SD 13.2) 41 (71.9%) women. follow-up time 1.5 (2.9). Foster (stages 0 50.9%. presence rounded spindle-shaped mast cells stages, while eosinophils later diagnosis. In IgM more frequent IgG ones, predominant linear pattern (92%) (Table 1). During follow-up, 15 (27.3%) developed regression analysis, IgA resulted during period for development sequelae; positive: HR 10.8, IC 95% 1.3 92.9 (p-value 0.03). positive; 0.2, 0.02 0.08); positive 0.4, 0.1 2.3 0.29) C3 1.7 0.14) Conclusion This one largest rheumatologic series has evaluated provides information possible role different antibody could play mucosa. Conjunctival Neutrophils Predict Progressive Scarring in Ocular Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid

Purpose Ocular mucous membrane pemphigoid (OcMMP) is a rare autoimmune disorder resulting in progressive conjunctival fibrosis and ocular surface failure leading to sight loss in up to 50%. This study was designed to optimize an ocular surface sampling technique for identification of novel biomarkers associated with disease activity and/or progressive fibrosis. Methods Fifty-seven patients wi...

Cataract surgery in ocular cicatricial pemphigoid.

The authors report the results of their experience with cataract surgery in 20 patients (26 eyes) with biopsy-proven cicatricial pemphigoid. All patients were on systemic immunosuppression at the time of surgery (dapsone, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, or combinations) and were treated with perioperative oral corticosteroids. Patients were evaluated pre- and postoperatively for conjunctival in...

Ocular involvement in anti-epiligrin cicatricial pemphigoid.

PURPOSE To report an anti-epiligrin cicatricial pemphigoid (AECP) patient with severe ocular involvement and to provide a practical approach to distinguishing AECP patients from those with other subepidermal blistering diseases. METHODS Techniques included direct and indirect immunofluorescence microscopy, Western blot and immunoprecipitation studies, as well as interdisciplinary examinations...

HLA antigens in ocular cicatricial pemphigoid.

HLA antigen frequencies were studied in 20 patients with ocular cicatricial pemphigoid and 245 normal persons. HLA-B12 demonstrated an increased frequency of 45% in patients with ocular cicatricial pemphigoid which was statistically significant when compared to a frequency of 19.6% in the general population (P less than 0.02). In patients with ocular cicatricial pemphigoid the prevalance of HLA...
